The Regional Technological Institute (RTI) is an engineering and technological research centre at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of West Bohemia. The Centre came into existence mainly thanks to financial support from the European Regional Development Fund, the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovation, Priority Axis 2: ‘Regional R&D centres’.
Construction began in the first half of 2011 and the Regional Technological Institute (RTI) opened its doors on 1 July 2015. Almost one hundred scientists and researchers work in its specially designed laboratories and other work places, all equipped with the latest technology, software and computers.
The activities of the RTI research centre are divided into four research programmes, dealing with research and development of modern vehicle design and their drive systems; machine tools and their modernization; forming technologies; and machining technologies.
